A J Charnaud & Co (Pty) Ltd was founded in
1975 by Fiona and Andrew Charnaud to manufacture industrial rainwear for the
South African market. The organisation has since expanded its range of products
considerably over the years and now supplies advanced personal protective
clothing and equipment to various sectors of the global economy.
The mining and firefighting
industries have been major focus areas from the beginning and today still
represent a significant portion of the organisations activities.
Involvement in the hot
metal market goes back to 1978, including the primary aluminium smelter market since
1999 with the in-house developed ALu-SAFE®, a material which
resisted molten aluminium and cryolite splash. A complete head-to-foot package
of products has been built around ALu-SAFE®, including ultra-high
heat and molten metal resistant footwear. Today Alu-SAFE® is internationally
certified and the benchmark for personal protective clothing in the global aluminium
industry.
In 2005 a full range of
clothing and accessories to protect workers against the hazards of electric arc
flash was launched under the SURVIVE-ARC® brand name. This product
range caries full American, European and South African standards
certification and is exported globally.
Almost all products are
manufactured in South Africa with some complementary accessories being imported
from a variety of global strategic partners. A J Charnaud & Co (Pty)
Ltd is regarded as a leading global supplier of personal protective clothing
against flames, heat, molten metal and electric arc protection. A complete
head-to-foot range of certified products, supported with advanced professional
and technical assistance are on offer.
