Aluminised fabrics normally consist of aluminium foil laminated over a carrier substrate. They offer excellent protection against radiant heat and molten metal splash due to the aluminised coating that reflects the heat away from the worker. The higher the heat reflection, the better the protection. In severe radiant heat hazards, the garment can be lined with a thermal liner that will increase the heat-attenuating factor (HAF) of the garment significantly and give the worker increased protection for longer periods.
